Dr. Watts, a Birmingham native, UAB School of Engineering graduate, and internationally renowned Neurologist, was named UAB’s seventh president in 2013 and is the university’s longest-serving president. He has served as Chair of Board of UAB Health System for over 13 years. Under his leadership, UAB has advanced its mission through multiple strategic initiatives. During his tenure, UAB has achieved record enrollment, historic research growth, expanded innovation and economic development, advances in patient care, transformative campus development, and strengthened community partnerships that improve education, health, and quality of life across Birmingham, Alabama, and beyond.
